Hello Can you update the Intel orom for a Dell Precision T3400 to RAID OROM v10.8.0.1303? Hello Had an issue attempting to flash the BIOS. Used MSDOS boot usb key created using RUFUS. Renamed the file to orom.exe. Attempted to run the exe on boot up. Received an error "Program Payload Error An error was encountered trying to access the flash program's data image, please reboot and try again. If this error re-occurs, please contact technical help." Any ideas? Thanks
Someone else in the PhoenixTool thread figured it out before AndyP added the ImagDs truncation from the HDR...most of the time the BIOS updater doesn't work, but sometimes this trick does. Although it doesn't seem to work all the time. I got it to work on my Precision M6300 A13->A14, but it didn't work with the M6400 A10->A12...had to just modify the A10. We'll see if "wingsfan87" says it works with the T3400...
I tried both files. The A11 worked fine and updated the oRom to the 11.x version no problems. The modified A14 installed but returned the oRom back to 7.6.1 and it also was still showing as A11. Is is supposed to do that? Preferably I would like to be running A14 with the oRom updated rather than A11 it included better SSD support which I now am using as my boot drive. Any ideas? Thanks PS LatinMcG thanks for the tip regarding the links. I have to wait until 20 posts to be able to post normal links. I'll get there
As a thought did I run the modified A14 incorrectly? The command I used was verbatim including the quotes "T3400A11 -readgzfile". Should there have been a space between read and gzfile or should have exactly specified the name or path\name to the file? I wasn't exactly clear on the instructions.
On second thought A11 did not work either. The modified A11 did update "successfully" to 11.x orom but the system wouldn't boot past the Intel oRom screen. I did reset the defaults and then return the normal settings that allows the OS to boot but it still would not load past the Intel oRom screen. Setup Boot Drive - 120 SSD Storage 2 x 3 TB drives running Raid 1 as software raid in Windows (shows all drives non raid in the o-rom util) [I don't want to update to hardware raid on the drives until I back up the data to another storage local as it will erase the drives if I use the hardware raid) Bios Options Drive Mode is Raid On (this is the only one that boots normally into Windows prior to playing with the BIOS updates) SSD is priority one for boot priority Any other ideas? Let me know if you need more info. I returned it back to normal A14 for now and its booting fine. Thanks
Hello I tried both of them you provided for A11 orom 10.x and 11.x both would not boot past the oRom screen on boot up. I'll probably have to install from scratch as you suggested with the oRom's Raid enabled. It could be a little bit as I have to back up all my data first. I will post though if it was successful for not after starting from scratch. Thanks again
Yeah neither worked. I had to just go back to A14 and use the Windows software Raid I tried fresh install.. but it wouldn't even boot into the Windows disk to start the install. Was stuck at Starting Windows until I disabled the Raid. Bummer
I know this is old news now but perhaps it will help somebody else. I had previously tried updating T3400 A11 BIOS to various newer OROMS's. The best I was able to get it updated to was 8.7.0.1007 from the original 7.6.1.1001 (anything newer than 8.7.0.1007 would not boot properly). If you want the resulting file it can be found over at BIOSmods forum. I would post the link but it won't let due to my post count. If you really want to find it then go to google and search for: T3400 8.7.0.1007
