    Hi All,

Have been lurking around looking at the posts regarding Windows 7.
I see there is a modded bios for the Dell Studio 1735.

I also cannot see any notes of anyone using it successfully or unsuccessfuly.

    Has anyone used this?

    Thanks

    ver A07

Check the Dell website - The new Studio bios ver A07 has slic 2.1 already in it from Dell.. No worries about a modded bios bricking your system !!!

    No A07 out there!

    No A07 for 1735, only for 1737, but that's another laptop.

Yup! Thing is, I think the 1735 is discontinued, so I am not sure if there will ever be a proper BIOS with slic 2.1 :(

If it was not eligible for the dell windows 7 update program there never will be a bios update to SLIC 2.1 even my M8 has Studio XPS 435MT it is eligible for windows 7 update but no bios update yet for his model.

Perhaps, although Microsoft generally do not allow upgrade from an OEM. I guess there would have to be something about it, to prevent inappropriate ( :) ) use of it!

If that mod is proved I will flash...
But, is it possible from A05, not A04 only???
Also why I need LAN connected???

I did it from A04 already present, I don't known when possible flashing from original A05.
Not LAN but NET( Power supply) connected! like always by BIOS update (flash).

easiest rule of thumb to follow on if a OEM will release a SLIC 2.1 BIOS is to check to see if they sell the model with Windows 7. Just because it is eligible for an upgrade doesn't mean they will release a BIOS containing a SLIC, they will probably just give you a 1 time MAK key.

I am not really sure if the Studio 17's on the dell website are the 1735's or the 1737's.
