I have a dell, windows vista home premium with a faulty hard drive, I am thinking I would upgrade to windows 10, then replace the faulty hard drive with a new one and clean install windows 10. Would I still be activated? I read where Microsoft identifies the computer and activation through its components, would changing the hard drive loose my activation? Thanks.
No you cannot you need at least windows 7 SP1 installed and activated before you qualify for upgrade to windows 10 read the forum i,e, Daz loader
Ok thanks urie I was hoping there would be a way to go from the dell vista home premium to 7 then to 10. I would go the Daz rout. Thanks for the confirmation urie.
No as I stated vista does not qualify like xp officially you need to buy windows 10 no upgrade available. Easiest rout is Daz loader I personally have a dell inspiron 530 came with vista but I went for bios mod to slic 2.1 same with my current desktop. As I mentioned really easy now if you just activate with loader then upgrade safer than bad bios mod.
