    Unfortunately the latest DELL bioses can't be opened and modded with Phoenix Bios Editor, because they use a customized format - meaning, DELL bioses can't (yet) be modded to include SLIC 2.1 certificate in ACPI tables. You'll have to wait, as us all - I'm sure after some time this will be made possible.

    I successfully flashed the above posted rom file using phlash16 v1.6.5.4.
    at the dos prompt type phlash16 filename XXXX.rom (of course use the correct file name)

    Hi Guys, I have just tried flashing this rom with phlash16 from a usb dos boot drive and phlash starts the flash but fails towards the end with a critical error warning. It then advised to put in the critical recovery disk . I had to remove the battery to get the laptop to reboot.

    Fortunately the vostro 1000 is not bricked.
    I have booted fine since but the slic is still 2.0 reported via the slictookit.

    Can anyone here advice what I am doing wrong or how to get the modded bios to flash

    Just a quick update. I managed to flash the new bios in windows using Winphlash from Flash Package.

    I had read that several people had bricked their vostros using Winphlash however I worked fine for me.
