I am hoping someone here can help. I upgraded my Dell XPS M1530 laptop from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium. The problem I am having is the Ricoh Memory Stick Controller. When I plug in a USB flash drive larger than 16GB or my WD My Passport 500GB portable hard drive, Windows can not recognize it. I have tried installing the Vista driver from Dell's website (Ricoh R5C833, v3.54.06, A01) it seem to install just fine and there is no problem in Device Manager but it just doesn't seem to work. So far I've tried installing Windows 7 32bit, windows 7 64bit, Ricoh R5C833 driver that was written for Windows 7 but for different model laptops, and even tried installing the Dell driver in compatibly mode. In compatibly mode I've tried Vista SP2, Vista SP1, Vista, and even XP SP3, and XP SP 2. So far nothing worked. I also tried letting Windows look for a driver on the internet but it can not find one. I have Googled the problem and other people are having the same issue but no one has found a solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
First I would like to thankyou for your reply. I did a clean install of Windows 7 so there was no driversinstalled, then I created a restore point before I began. I downloaded thefirst driver you posted and unzipped it with 7zip. I installed the drivermanually, just like you said, but unfortunately it did not work. I than did asystem restore to before I installed the first driver. Then I tried the seconddriver you posted but that did not work either. I am at a loss at this point.
So, i think you 'll have to update the firmware of this memory stick controller for proper working on windows 7, i've a old dell dimension 9200 with a card reader, and i must upgrade the firmware for capabilities. But, i don't know if a new firmware is avaible for the ricoh, first reinstall the driver you've used before, go to device manager, right clic on your ricoh, go to propeties>details and expand manufacture identification (don't know if its a right term, i don't use Us-En version of windows), and normally you get the firmware version actually installed. Let us know and thank you for your feedback windsman.

Ok, it seems that firmware revision is 12H, but unfortunately i'm unable to found a upgrade firmware, i think you'll have to use it like it is. windsman.
