Hi all, I have an xps m1710 lappy with a legal version of Win7 , the slic in the bios is 2.0 I would like to install a modded 2.1 slic for future use , by doing this will I get the dreaded windows is not genuine watermark , or will it still remain legal? thank you for your help :worthy:

Assuming I only have an oem key from the back of the dell, with the exact situation (home premium) can I do the same, upgrade the slic, and be good to go?

The OEM-COA key that's on the sticker is non-SLP. If you're looking to re-use that, then you'll have to contact Microsoft and probably explain why you're using the OEM-COA key on different hardware (provided you've activated Windows with it already).

Oh ok, I didn't realize that. But I can use an slp or whatever they're called from the forums along with the right certs and then not have to worry about messing up the recovery partition bcd right?
