Suddenly I'm having 2 issues with Windows 10 Pro x64 which I never had before:

    - my desktop icon positions are not being remembered (always resorted after reboot + switched to medium icon size)
    - my folder view settings are not being saved (thumbnail view switched to list view when folder reopened).

    "sfc /scannow" doesn't help.

Any ideas on how to fix this Windows amnesia?

Thanks, I haven't seen that thread earlier.
However, there is no fix, just 3-rd party app recommendations.

It's interesting that the same problem occurred earlier in Windows 7
and 8 for some people, maybe Vista too, but never fixed by Microsoft.

Does this mean it will forget to send all your data back home ? If so, I want to install it now. :p

Have you tried unhide folders- go to -c:\Users\[account]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat

Rename Usr and reboot, or use safe mode to rename then reboot, it should make windows recreate the file.

Don't forget to move it or backup somewhere.

Thanks, I'll try that on Monday (it's my second PC, not accessible atm) and let you know if your fix helps.

Thank you, but lets hope you get a few more ideas on here, as it hasn't worked for everyone.

It means you need to have Amnesia to forget what MS have done to you with 7, 8.1 and 10, before you'll even consider installing it :D

I'm not allowed to delete or even copy to another folder UsrClass.dat.

Solved by restoring my older backup.
