I'm going to be handling showing the differences between the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 licensing. Also The Windows 8.1 RTM was for the OEMs and not the general release ISO.
The definitions for these things at MDL are as follows. Activation: Using a key or program that doesn't alter the OS, but passes as genuine. Hacktivation: Modifying files, permissions or the systems registry in an attempt to get Windows to say or act like it's activated. Frankenbuild: A pre-modified ISO that has been altered in some way. It doesn't necessarily mean that it will modify the activation system. At MDL we only allow activation, which means apps like MS Toolkit, Windows Loader and BIOS modding. We don't allow modified ISO's or hacktivation as that stuff makes a mess and we receive DMCA takedown orders from Microsoft. We also don't allow keys to be posted or linked to as they're stolen from people, schools, companies etc.
