Hi there I have just found out, the hard way, why SSV modding has been removed from the older versions of Andy's AMI SLIC tool - it has fried my Asrock K7VM4 motherboard's EEPROM data. Luckily, I have an EEPROM burner...which I forgot to use for backing up the original data. I have tried downloading the ROM files from Asrock's homepage - but flashing them didn't make the board POST again. So what do I need to do with a downloaded BIOS file...in order for it to fit an EEPROM chip and make the board work again? It doesn't even try to use the floppy drive, so no quck way there... *praying*
I think the bin/rom file can just be written as plain data to the chip, at least if your rom programmer propperly supports the size of your chip.
Stannieman, is there any tool available that will allow simply copy bios file downloaded from manufacturer of laptop website and copy to eeprom chip is that possible
Sorry, I wasn't really keeping an eye on this thread. But no, I don't know these tools as I have never flashed chips that way. But I'm sure the guys from the bios mod section will be able to help you out.
