If your not connected to the internet, Windows 7's 'Games Explorer' will cause issues. Namely, it causes rundll32 to become stuck in a loop with very high CPU usage, and prevents certain games from launching on the first click.

I've been using Windows Server 2008 R2 for a while now, and it's great without the useless 'Games Explorer'. However, the F.E.A.R series has issues with the Server O/S, so I need to switch back to standards Windows 7.

Does anyone know how to completely disable and remove the 'Games Explorer' component of Windows 7?

So far so good. Four games up, and I have not had any problem with Games Explorer. It was pretty unpredictable from memory, so I wouldn't be surprised if it came back. I'll post here if it does.
