@all MDL users I can tell without or beyond all doubt this contribution of abbodi1406 is one of the best in the last months, so use it with full confidence and peace of mind
Very useful thanks OP I killed GWX on 8.1 by ending the process, deleting the folder from system32 - then removing / hiding all Win 10 / telemetry updates Never had any nags or prompts for 10 since I installed 8.1 and did the above
I recently installed GWX Control Panel to deal with the Win10 install fiasco and it seems to be working nicely.
June 2015 WU client update for win8 (kb3050267) is in the exclude list but not the win7 one (3050265) ?
Thanks for your work OP. Windows Update will not check for updates, or install updates, after I ran W10-Block.cmd (that's all I did). I can click on the buttons for these two actions and the progress bar pulses, but no data is downloaded or updates checked for. Any ideas anyone? The system hasn't been updated for 6 months btw.
As you said, after 90 minutes WU eventually downloaded and installed the updates, then I rebooted and ran the script. the WU long search issue seems resolved too. appreciate the very fast reply OP.
@abbodi1406 Firstly, thanks for your great work. I used the scripts like that: 1- Removed the "SoftwareDistribution" folder. 2- Run W10-Block.cmd & W10-Uninstall.cmd & W10-Hide.cmd ( Reboot if necessary ) 3- Run W.U.C Now, W.U.C founds KB3112343 ( which is related W10 ) as an important update. I am a very obsessive man ( maybe a litle nerd ) . I never want to see W10 related updates in my W7. I only want to install important updates related only W7. I have updated my W7 wim files via updatepack7r2 until today but I see that it includes some W10 related updates. What do you suggest I do?
1- You don't need to remove it, it's Download folder inside it that can be removed removing \SoftwareDistribution\DataStore clears WU database, and thus you need to rebuild it again which take time 3- KB3112343 (or KB3135445) is WU client update, it solve long/high resources search issue you can safely install it as long as you you ran W10-Block.cmd but if you really don't want it, then just unhide it
1- Can I use only W10-Block.cmd on a fresh install of W7 SP1 ( untouched wim ) to prevent W10 related updates? 2- Does the latest updatepack7r2 include W10 related updates? If not, I want to use it to update my untouched wim file and prevent my W7 via W10-Block.cmd
1- W10-Block.cmd prevent the upgrade, it doesn't prevent the updates or remove them 2- i don't know, better check or asks in its thread
If I integrate the updates which are in WHDownloader ( only general, hotfix and security +[maybe IE11] ) to an untouched W7 SP1 wim file and disable wuauserv; do I need these scripts?
