This service has zero impact on performance, memory or otherwise, and it could be essential to some functions, say like pop in to the native start menu and shift click restart to access recovery options. etc. etc.
There used to be blackviper and his scripts but it was discontinued some time back. Anyone knows if there is an alternative or someone continued his work?
Start will not open, right click menu will work just fine. Settings seems to open much faster. ApplicationFrameHost.exe does not run, unless an app is started, like Settings. I have actually removed the whole "%WinDir%\SystemApps" folder, thus far it is good, I am only missing calendar a bit, 10 takes 950MB at startup (2GB is used by ramdisk).
could you write me step by step procedure to do this ? question: does remain your modify when windows upgrade the system ?
I took my 8.1 barebone services file and applied it to ltsc, trial and error on the w10/ltsc specifiic services, i did use BV's Windows Services page for information where availible. I got over 200 disabled on ltsc/air gapped pc.
If you updated BV's services list for LTSC, even if it's personalized for you, you should share with the group.
I read the info, decided yay or nay. Its on pastebin as part of a larger set of tweaks in a txt file. Its built for my needs only, i aint offering any kind of support. Link in my signature, It Is For Information Purposes Only.
I post stuff a lot and say, "I am not responsible if your computer explodes by doing this." It's not my fault if I delete my System32 folder and somebody else does because I did (extreme example). Also, for anyone reading this, I did not delete my Sysem32 folder (*I am not responsible if your computer explodes by doing this*)
Something like this, run CMD as admin and copy/paste. You can backup the file, rename it or run SFC scan to restore it. Code: takeown /f "%WinDir%\SystemApps\StartMenuExperienceHost.exe" /a icacls "%WinDir%\SystemApps\StartMenuExperienceHost.exe" /grant:r Administrators:F /c taskkill /im StartMenuExperienceHost.exe /f del "%WinDir%\SystemApps\StartMenuExperienceHost.exe" /s /f /q No, an upgrade is like reinstall, even updates restore some settings. I turn off computer with my tweaks, in case Windows messed up something.
