So first up... I don't even have windows 11 installed yet.

I was going to be building an iso soon for clean install on pre-coffee lake hardware (specifically a broadwell xeon workstation with alot of ram) meant to run Adobe CC in the meanwhile until i can afford a hardware upgrade.

But one "feature" i've heard about, that I dont know more specifics (since i'm not yet using win11) is some AI thing that keeps track of what you were doing, is supposed to learn and 'get to know you', taking snapshots of your desktop regularly or your open browsing windows, you know with like my tax records and bank passwords and i'm sure sending those all to microsoft and such, none of which I want.

I was browsing topics here but I didn't yet see any discussion of this thing, unless there's a specific name for it, and ways to disable it, or build an ISO that has it completely removed and similar. Is it considered part of 'telemetry' or something new or..?

I think it's definitely part of telemetry.
MS says it can also be saved only locally, but I don't trust that.
It's always best to assume that there's a risk of data leakage due to arbitrary specification changes.

You can find how to disable "Copilot" and "Recall" by searching.

Also note that CPUs without SSE4.2 instruction set do not work anymore with the latest Windows 11 24H2, and there is no workaround (and probably never will be). Don't know if all Xeons support SSE4.2, so I thought I'd point it out, here.

@Carlos Detweiller SSE4.2 is the same as the POPCNT they previously required?
So Microsoft increased the requirements with an update? Or am I confused?
If that is the case, it's dangerous, because they can push an update to definitely block all "non-compliant" PC's (TPM, secure boot, etc) While technically possible, this is a very bad and dangerous thing to do

POPCNT was an old requirement, now it is the complete SSE4.2 instruction set that must be supported. Otherwise, it won't even boot.

    The other requirements are arbitrary.
