As the title said, support expires on January 10, 2023. But I think Windows 8.0 is physically dead (a lot of Windows 8 users are now on Windows 8.1). So do you think that Windows 8.0 is dead?
Windows 8 not good, Windows 8.1 is OK (like stable and faster and secured, I personal no like Metro UI), but Windows 10 will be excellent OS this summer 2015.
I'm with PaulDesmond about this. Since Microsoft releases brand new ISO's of Windows 8.1 with all updates and rollups till November 2014, i think we can say that Windows 8 is dead.
May let say W8 is with 1½ leg in the grave because of the free upgrade from 8 to 8.1 MS was don e at that time! Still, on corporate sector there quite some W8's running and they will not be updated to 8.1! The positive feedbacks for w10 will push those, who still on W 7 and 8, to directly to 10 after it's release!
I don't think Windows 8 is dead. You can't install some of the apps (Apps you can snap to 1/2 screen and its tiles can increase to large). And shut down computer is not easy.
What would you do when you successfully run original Windows 8.0, but you can't update to a later version because Microsoft's installations crash (Windows 8.1/10, x86/x64, all officially released rollup/update ISOs)? Even "Windows Upgrade Advisor" says the hardware is compatible, but you can't install.
