Would be amazing if it is possible to claim warranty on this (since its hardware). My gamer laptop is kinda lacking behind and could sure need an upgrade.

I would until M$ hands it out to you to be safe, whether or not your cpu will take a performance hit is still unknown, but rumors state it could be as much as 30%.
The decision to update is of your own

I'm avoiding it like the plague. I'll wait to see just how much this is gonna cripple CPU's. ;)

i suspect it is completely harmless, those scavengers only revealed it for the money/publicity. as usual, nothing much will happen. anyway, i have no passwords on my harddrive, and i avoid javascript in my browsers.

These flaws are not yet in the wild. Google has found them and advised the vendors to update. But now that Google has leaked these flaws, Linux, Android, Microsoft and Intel must rush to patch these vulnerabilities before they do get out in the wild because Google has exposed what these are, and will soon be out there in the wild
Was it right for Google to expose these flaws or was it wrong for vendors (Intel) to take over 6 months to fix?
