Installed Ubuntu 14.04 yesterday in dual-boot with Windows 8.1;all goes good and Ubuntu seems to have more speed than Windows,on my machine.
Ubuntu is better than windows in context of speed and security. i am helpless to know why people do not give more importance to Ubuntu than windows.
Ubuntu was good. But Unity blew it. Today I prefer to use Linux Mint (comes with codecs), Arch Linux or Fedora.
I'd rather not to judge ubuntu or other linux distro by look, we can customize our desktop environment with what we want (mate, kde, lxde, xfce, gnome3 or whatever), same as codecs, we can install what we want depend the package itself... my only problem now is I cant print my work becuz the printer output doesn't work just like I expected (Paiva, do u have problem with printing with default driver given by the os? )
When I talked about Unity, I referred to the "weight". Ubuntu lost so many users. Linux Mint now much more stable. The drivers made available by Mint are working properly. Printer, network, vga ...
i prefer Fedora and Ubuntu (only for penetration testing by installing all Kali Linux tools ) in Linux and FreeBSD in Unix as in FreeBSD it has compatible layer with Linux Like Applications ......
I tried Kubuntu 14.04 and PCbsd; on Pcbsd my laptop hanging every time and only I can do is reboot..Since they heve blocked my Windows 8 retail key because many uses (I tested Windows 8.* that is the reason for many reinstall)I am now happy with Ubuntu that seems to me to be my choose for a long, long time from now on..Is enough stable, reliable and more
Yes... My question is Linux. ) Almost never shifted with Unix or BSD. No time for it. Tired of Unity ... weighed my mind! I like KDE!
Kubuntu is no longer maintained by Canonical. Then fell stability. Today I really like KDE. Requires a little more hardware, but I think more beautiful. I use Windows 8.1 Pro X64 and Linux Mint 16 KDE x64.
I downloaded yesterday kubuntu but after I used KDE on pcbsd unix distro I am NOT satisfiyed with that KDE that is native on Kubuntu!Even shows to me that is 14.04!
if u want kde desktop environment only, u can use this in terminal : desktop only (no additional kde application) Code: sudo apt-get install kde-plasma-desktop kde-plasma-netbook desktop environment (with minor kde application) Code: sudo apt-get install kde-standard desktop environment (desktop standard kubuntu) Code: sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop full desktop environment : Code: sudo apt-get install kde-full
