Updated the 2004/9 Updates Overview, added the preview catalog updates (some are on public WU too): https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...-20h1-2-vb_release.80763/page-16#post-1571109
Best part of this is that you can enable 20H2 features even on RP... Then Winver goes confused as it doesn't know what version it is.
What's a preview CU, something like a beta CU? If so, should I install it or wait for a stable release?
Just a preview of an update, it was first released on the UUP platform, in the Release Preview Ring and now is released on catalog, though some preview updates were released on WU publicly.
Thanks. Do you recommend to wait for a non-preview CU or stay in the LCU since this one may have problems? Are there updates which are only released on UUP on a certain Ring/Channel (or in more than one of them), only on Catalog or only on WU and is there a release order regarding updates that were released in all of them (for instance, UUP first, Catalog second and WU last)? Are there updates released on certain Rings/Channels or first in one and afterwards in another, and if so, what's the correct Ring/Channel release order? Also, what's the difference between WSUS and UUP? So, one can download updates from UUP, Catalog and WU (and maybe WSUS)? EDIT: Are there SSU Preview, EP Preview, DU Preview and Adobe Flash Player Preview? I guess when the LCU Preview is more recent than the LCU non-Preview the latter stops being called LCU and starts being called CU and the former one stops being called CU Preview and starts being called LCU Preview.
i think its better to wait till stable release . As this .423 update will check for Edge & Cortana installed & if found not installed it will stop at last stage of installation ie at 98% then rever win10 back to 388 showing undoing changes . as a result %windir%\systemapps again appeared as well. now again one must take ownership of whole systemapps directory then remove unwanted directories from that. I suggest if anybody want to do some systemapps tweak then first consult expert or else will run into trouble .
Well every day and something else. Was checking for updates on WU and it didn't find anything besides Defender updates. Was about to close it when i saw a "view optional updates" under the "Check for updates" button. There is the KB4568831 (.423 CU) preview available to choose to install it. My guess is that they should have done the same with the .Net 4.8 preview yesterday but didn't go as planned.
Work on Win10 2004(19041.421 or above),enable all 20H2 features,including Theme-aware tiles in start Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\0\2093230218] "EnabledState"=dword:00000002 "EnabledStateOptions"=dword:00000000
Is it just for me or the "Update driver -> Search automatically for drivers" option in Device Manager is broken, like it instantly throws the message saying that the best drivers are already installed. I noticed this after installing .423 CU Preview.
Build 19041 was still a Insider build when this thread started. Every release build starts out as Insider only, and starts out on this forum as an Insider thread.
Windows versions may start out as insider builds, but they don't end up as insider builds. If someone applies for insider status with MS, and gets an insider build, then they are going into it with their eyes open. They are true insiders. But if someone runs an enablement package and suddenly has an insider build, and there are no feedback agreements, obligations, or terms, then they may think that it's just another KB. An insider build has risks of instability and it's important to realize that. There is an element of safety in using a build listed on the Windows 10 release page. 19041.423 is now listed there.
so strange. will try again with .423 now. any known hardware compatibilities list published somewhere maybe ? I'm using thinkpad e490, i7-8565U, 32G RAM, Radeon RX550X using 20.7.2 driver, samsung 970 evo plus nvme.
