I am trying to upgrade from a regular 18363 to regular 19041. The same UUP->ISO setup source worked on my desktop but failed on my laptop. The 1909 installs were up to date (auto WU) and were not messed with (no crazy tweaks or things like that, not even telemetry removal).
make sure in your software distribution folder under downloads empty all previous installations that are in their.
I ran Disk Cleanup (admin mode), SFC restore and DISM image restore + cleanup after the first failed attempt (no errors were found). I also updated any drivers I could because the error code indicated "something about drivers". I already cleaned up everything after the second failure, so I can't examine the log file mentioned above (at least I think that was also cleaned, I am not sure) but may be I will give it a third go to check that (but the plan was to wait for an SSU/CU or new build).
Please go ahead and run setupdiag from microsoft, and read the txt file it generates with any culprits it discovers.
another possible course of action is to do an in-place install of the EXISTING os build, as a repair option, and afterwards doing the same with the new iso build.
I have issues with the search box on 19041.1. Very slow to respond when clicked (often has to be clicked 2 or 3 times before it wakes up), and if I click a previous search from the dropdown it often does nothing the first time and I have to do the whole thing again. Been like this in all Insider builds for months now.
Is it common for an insider build to install CU from Windows Update without using a MS account and not enrolled to any ring? Because it does, if that is interesting news to anyone.
