Download the update from their website
and open the package with 7zip for example
    extract the defender package cab
    and install in manually

    @janos666
afaict bitlocker doesn't use the msr at all
its reserved (hence teh name) space (no filesystem) 4 anything windows needs 2 dump on the drive (thigs like dynamic disk metadata etc)

MSR is largely undocumented. Leave it alone.

Bitlocker absolutely has everything it needs to boot up located in the EFI system partition. MSR is not needed for it, and neither is the recovery partition.

I have experimented with this in a virtual machine. If you create the partitions yourself (with diskpart), you can go as low as a 40 MB EFI partition and have the rest of the (virtual) disk as a single OS partition. In prior builds I could go as low as 30 MB, but I think that no longer was enough with 20H1.

(Note that on a real machine you probably want the recommended 100 MB for the EFI partition because firmware updates are going to be placed there which means you won't be able to update your BIOS if you don't have enough free space.)

The only thing that is documented to require the MSR partition is "dynamic disks" and I think some DRM/copy protection mechanisms that used to write directly to the disk on BIOS based systems. Microsoft no longer allows this and redirects those writes to the MSR partition instead.

When I copy & Paste, that is how it came out. I posted Info as soon as I was notified by AMD that WHQL Driver had been released.

It is, but this depends to some degree of the Version and Edition of Windows 10.
With Enterprise and likely Pro, this can be set in Group Policy.

Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update - Configure Automatic Updates set to Disabled
Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Microsoft Defender Antivirus/Security Intelligence Updates - Define the order of sources for downloading security intelligence updates - set to Enabled and enter the value MicrosoftUpdateServer

Depending on the version of Windows 10 - the example is based on 20H2 - the last policy might have other name but the functionality is identical.

It is possible that registry keys configured directly outside of Group Policy in the Policies section or elsewhere to work, but this is not guaranteed and require testing.
Because of the security lockdown of the registry keys related to Defender, you might have to use NSudo run as Trusted Installer or System to configure the relevant registry keys and values.

For that reason the safest and verified method is to use the above Group Policies.

@ch100 The reason for my question - Win Updates they were stopped, but Defender took upcoming updates.
I think some registry mish mash was happening. ")

Any O&O AppBuster alternative for build 2004? I see it's not working anymore to remove windows default apps.

I am seeing a reproducible problem upgrading from 1903/9 to 20H1/20H2.

Case 1: Upgrading a 1909 laptop to 20H1 via media creation tool.
Case 2: Upgrading a 1909 laptop to 20H2 via an image including all current updates.

In both cases I got a WFP INVALID OPERATION BSOD at the point where the 2nd reboot should take place. This BSOD does seem to be directly related to the attempted reboot as after the crash the upgrade continues without issue.

The 0x1D3 WFP_INVALID_OPERATION BSOD is rather unique. It only occurs when there is an issue with a driver or service that uses the Windows Filtering Platform for network filtering. So the most likely root cause here is a 3rd party driver or service that provides network filtering is being evil. Commonly used by security software, firewalls, internet content filters, network traffic inspectors, etc.
