So, I did some testing and was able to confirm that if you integrate all updates including DU you will get the error mentioned above. If you integrate all updates and exclude DU, the install is typical and error free.
ISO\sources files are used during in-place upgrade (or live installation) boot.wim\2\sources files are used during boot installation it's not necessary the files to be the same version, except only setup.exe file it could be unintentional bug (since Vista), or intentional restriction for undocumented reason
@p0werb1t I have never encountered issue when other sources files have version mismatch, only setup.exe cause the error (even KB4041170 article says that)
The downloads in this POST are not working as they are supposed to be. Anyone to check on them please`Thank you
Well, I zero idea on how to utilize the info in this post. I need a fresh new copay of windows pro. Anypersons have to get me along.
I have experienced the "media driver" error when I built a 19041.804 via your convert-UUP, starting from base 19041.1. I used windows10.0-kb4599861-x64_DU_Sources.cab, windows10.0-kb4586858-x64_DU_SafeOS.cab, Windows10.0-KB4601319-x64_LCU.cab, Windows10.0-KB4601050-x64-NDP48_CU_NetFX.cab, Windows10.0-KB4598481-x64_SSU.cab, Windows10.0-KB4577586-x64_Flash_Removal.cab. Then I fixed it robocopying (only identical files) boot.wim\2\sources to installmedia\sources. As you say probably just copying setup.exe would fix it, but in that time I didn't know. In the KB4041170, if you read along points 6 and 7: Probably this for this specific "media driver" error copying setup.exe it's all we need. But I have the feeling that this mismatch of several files, that sometimes occurs, may induce other problems in the future, mainly in in-place upgrades or live installation scenarios (like you said before). But in the end, we can rest now for this "media driver" problem as it's solved and also I don't want to take more of your time with this. And IF others problems arise from this in the future, or MS, or you will certainly will take care of them Thanks
I agree with your assessment. Even the 19042.804 MVS ISO installs and runs cleaner. It contains less superceded packages. Once it’s updated to 844, it seems to improve performance.
