It is another way of doing it, but it is not the "professional" way.

So basically you suggest manually installing the updates without any reference to Windows Update online or specialised server like WSUS.
It is possible, but risky and prone to errors.

that's what I generally do if I need to block any specific update or manually check before updating.
Don't know why this tool (WUMT) isn't being updated for so many long times, in last 5 years.

A google search for "Windows Update MiniTool" provides about 230M hits for the 07.01.2020 version of a tool of that name. The author calls himself "stupid user" and the app is hosted at the "Wilders Security Forums". Is this the same tool or some sort of dupe of the 2016 WUMT posted here on MDL? What is it?

EDIT: I don't think it is hosted at "Wilders Security Forums"

There is a specific thread for WUMT. If you wish to post questions in relation to that tool, you may get some answers there.

"stupid user" is the correct author. The 2020-01-07 version was released by him, however, it has a problem in that it only works on Windows 10. The older 2016 version works on XP and newer. Even older versions worked on Win2k also.

Ask Microsoft, after all, it's their decision to decide the release candidate.

RC and final ISOs are usually created with the latest stable LCU included at the signing-off date (.128). They do, to my knowledge, never include any Preview LCUs.

It actually happened more often than you would expect.
What they never did was to include an optional preview for .NET Framework update.
The weird thing is that the optional .NET updates are pushed via WU, while the optional preview LCUs rarely are.
Probably different teams deciding what to include.
