Waiting for what upgrade? When you installed 16281 the new 16299 already was released. This is really old news.
The point was to mention that multiple build numbers can be activated by the Pro Workstation Product Key that @Enthousiast has discovered for build 16257. I think that 16281 is the newest that will activate. Yes, clean installs are much faster than upgrading to gain the Digital License, so I thought the GenuineTicket.xml method might be useful.
I have found out that your main machine (not VM) loses it's previous HWID activation of Pro if you activate ProWorkstation using HWID method. Example you have Windows 10 Pro which is HWID activated You do the procedure to get ProWorkstation installed and HWID activated Again install normal Windows 10 Pro Pro will not be activated with Digital License.
I activated ProWS like this: 1) mounted core 16281 install.wim 2) changed to ProfessionalWorkstation 3) entered key 4) saved, unmounted, changed edition, etc. 5) applied image to drive with dism. 6) booted, finished install. It was activated. 7) ran gatherosstate, and copied to desktop of main OS. 8) Booted to main OS (Pro x64 17004 activated with digital license linked to my MS account.) 9) Repeated above but with 16299 made same way as above but with no key inserted. 10) BEFORE I rebooted to finish install I copied over Genuine Ticket. 11) 16299 installed activated with digital license. 12) I still have my MS linked digital license on my main drive.
I've been running this on my home desktop/workstation for a while now and its full NVDIMM-N support is worth its weight in gold.
hi my friends. I have a problem. I downloaded latest Win 10 build 16299.15 uup files. I made an iso of them. the Core/Home edition. then with S-M-R-T WIM EDITION SWITCHER by s1ave77 I switched Home to ProfessionalWorkstation. I made an iso of ProfessionalWorkstation edition and made a clean install. during install I press I don't have a serial and finish the install. but after boot to desktop I saw Windows 10 Home and not ProWS. why this happened? anyway I put serial 2YVV7 and converted to ProWS and automatically activated with a digital licence. then I tried again a new clean install but tried to put serial but didn't accept both serials. what I do wrong? it supposed to installed as ProWS edition, right? before install I checked iso with ntlite and showed ProWS edition. any help?
thanks for your answer. no it didn't came with home edition. I have Asus Rog Strix Gaming E motherboard with cpu i7 7700k. any other possible issue?
when I open it in ntlite install wim has only ProWS. I puted home install.wim in your tool and made the switch. then I created an iso and made a clean install. the home iso created from uup files of latest 16299.15 build. then I took the wim and made with your tool the switch.
It prolly will install the edition which the MSDM is for? Pro-WS is created from Home. I mean if the key from the bios is used, it simply could be caused by a license switch based on the MSDM?
Ok I finally found the problem. after the switch to ProWS I made the iso with WinToolkit_1.5.4.10. WinToolkit_1.5.4.10 doesn't recognize ProWS as a valid known edition and makes the iso as Home edition. I tried to make the iso with NTlite and now its the correct ProWS edition. I don't have time now to do a clean install to test it. tomorrow i'll do it and post the results here. be well, goodnight to all my friends here in MDL. Spiros.
