Hello everyone. So now looks like ProWS is officially available from the Store.

When you click install, it activates using a MAK instead of a retail key.

But unfortunately, even using the Store, this is not a complete upgrade and will create a Pro/ProWS hybrid.

I wonder when will we be able to do a full upgrade to ProWS and not a hybrid, "FrankenSKU"...

Hi. All I did was update to the latest version of the Store, then search for "Pro".

It will then show "Windows 10 Pro for Workstations - Learn More"

    Just click there and upgrade.

It looks like this is the official way of doing it.

There are instructions now on the Media Creation Tool download page about How to reinstall ProWS.

And it says: Install Pro, then go the the Store to reclaim the edition change at no additional cost.

Again, I think this is wrong, as DISM should say "ProfessionalWorkstation" and not "Professional".

Go figure, maybe they are just testing the process.

Not sure but what is Default OEM:DM key, afaik it's always bound to specific device ? So shown key is either 'stolen' or generated, in both cases i'd recommend to pull it.

Those keys were shown in the WEG a few months back, they didn't work anymore but when inserted on Pro-WS HWID activated it changes to the OEM channel.

Still a 'generic' OEM:DM key kinda contradicts the concept of OEM_DM activation :g:. Makes no sense without matching MSDM table and is either stolen or generated, so what's the use then ?

OK, still only for that rare condition an already activated system has a mobo replacement and needs the troubleshooter :D.

Does anyone know if the process is supposed to go like that?
From what I've read, the only official way for consumers to upgrade to ProWS is, or will be, by installing Windows 10 Pro and then switching to ProWS from the store.

I think cumulative updates don't work with a "full upgrade" by key from Home because they are not supposed to.
We'll find out soon enough though.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
If Enterprise is a super set of Pro for Workstations, it means that all PfW features are already included in Enterprise. So if I install the Enterprise edition from MyVisualStudio subscription and enter a PfW key I will convert my Enterprise copy with all Pro for Workstations features.

Sorry for asking such a stupid question, but:
Which version of Windows 10 is actually the "better one" (for myself), Pro for Workstations or Enterprise?

I have 16 GB RAM and an Intel Xeon E3-1231 v3 by the way.

I'm currently running Win 10 Pro. When I go to the Store the only thing I can find for Pro Workstation is buy an upgrade for $125.

Just checked the MCT page and here's what it says:

If your PC was previously running Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, click the Go to store button and you can reclaim the edition change to Windows 10 Pro for Workstations at no additional charge.
