It was a License switch. ;)

If it wasn't then the two edition lines would match.

OK, but what does that do? Makes it PfW or not? Is that why updates work? Does it mean updates only care about Registry entry?

No, updates care about the actual CBS packages/editions
    your edition officially is Professional

PfW is just a licensing/branding forefront

For installations with PfW WIM editions, Cumulative Update KB4054517 (Build 16299.125) does not install.

There will be no official support for PfW installations via the WIM route. Wait for the next big build release.

Yours is not full pro-ws but a licenseswitch from pro or enterprise, that's why it gets updates.

It really makes no sense to release version that can not get updates!

LOL, I love this statement as there are so many people in forums who, for reasons unfathomable to me, will do anything not to update!

    One does what one likes.
Software at any time (before upgrade/during upgrade/after upgrade) is total **** code, purely because it was written my human.
So IMO it is better to update, but please keep running even original unpatched XP

If you install unpatched XP (Service Pack 0) then you get infected with Blaster/Sasser virus within 15 minutes of connecting to internet. It's that bad. I tried it few days ago and got the shutdown timer after using it a bit.

And how does one know what one can get infected with when one installs W10 xxxxx.xx which on purpose is not updated (by such ones choice - disabling updates) or by MS purposely disabling updates for no-known reason?

It does get Defender updates, driver updates, etc. Just not feature updates.
