that used to be the reg path for W10 TM, not for W11, I tried & tested that earlier, so can confirm

I've played today with several tools to find out where the preferences of the taskmanager are saved.
    But no luck

What sort of tools? I used to use TotalUninstall to capture OS changes in cases like this.

    Hi guys,
Does anyone know the best way to hide a failed Windows Update?
The system is clean installed from 22621.819 MVS ISO run through option 1 in FiX KiT v3.0
    https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/win-11-boot-and-upgrade-fix-kit.83724/

Windows Update to 22621.1105 worked normally. But KB5012170 failed with Install error 0x800f0922. This seems to be reported as a problem UEFI update.

I ran wushowhide.diagcab to hide KB5012170. Then installed PSWindowsUpdate and ran Reset-WUComponents and rebooted.
Running Windows Update again still shows "Updates failed" with KB5012170 showing as errored like before.

Tried running the WU troubleshooter. Rebooted into Safe Mode and deleted the SoftwareDistribution directory. Reset-WUComponents multiple times. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow.
None of this has worked and the errored update seems impossible to clear from Windows Update. Any ideas?

I don't bother trying to fix Windows Updates anymore, it nearly never works. If someone brings me a system with failed updates, I build an image that matches their image (no component cleanup) and then integrate all current updates (again no component cleanup) and do an in place upgrade. Problems fixed and latest updates installed.

In the beta channel, how often do updates come?

Since I enrolled, which was last Saturday, I've only found two. At the time of writing, which is January 25, I can't find any more.

    @SAM-R

    Thank you.

Is it considered safe to switch between channels and mix updates between those?

There's no registry settings for Task Manager in Windows 11 any more. All settings and preferences are now stored in a file "settings.json".
    C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\TaskManager\settings.json

@SM03, The file itself is quite complicated, but there is not much point in studying it - just make the settings to your liking and save that file. There are several ways to quickly restore it after reinstalling Windows. I suppose it makes sense for Microsoft to make it possible to restore the settings in the Task Manager settings, as they did in the Windows Terminal.
