Updates by WU should not be affected by the restrictions.
That could become a problem but when 22000.xxx is the baseline for Win 11, there won't be new major release for it in the near future (speculation).

Didn't try but the appraiserres.dll fix to the temp install folder, WU creates, could work.

By major I mean the updates that create for example the folder windows.old.
So I can install the W11 and not worry about not getting montly updates trought WU, I might only have problemsonce a year when they push the major updates to W11.

Anything? I've wasted too much time messing around in settings and gpedit.msc. No luck. I'm thinking it will be easier just to do a clean install.

That's what i meant too, major is entire new build by full upgrade, minor is just by regular updates changing the delta buildnr only (.xxx).
    Speculative said, yes.

Aside from the extra clicks to do basic stuff and some missing UI options I have been happy with it so far.

The Windows 11 hardware requirements (CPU, UEFI, TPM, Secure Boot) are a partial effort on the part of MSFT to dump responsibility for security issues onto hardware manufacturers. These are problems that exist (in part) because Windows has been an inherently insecure OS for a long time. It's ridiculous that users must update there OS with 1000 fixes/year, when many of those fixes are security related. Why would MSFT need to update it's OS very often if they eliminate security issues by dumping them onto hardware manufacturers?
