Yes did that, still cant get the upgrade to save old settings and apps. Going to try the registry editing next.
Since Win11, I am not seeing the 'Fullscreen optimization' option in settings, so asking, whether MSFT deferred that option from Windows 11 settings, or what?
Used both, 21H1 (22000.xxx) & now currently on 22H2 (22621.105), but the fullscreen optimization option that used to there in under Win10 settings/display/advance graphics option, is missing since the Win11 beginning, here's a SS for reference
Do right-click on app in desktop, choose Properties and then Compatibility - there you find "fullscreen optimization".
that's the app-specific option & that is there from Win7 I believe, I'm aware of that option & not talking about that Asking specifically about the option from Win10 Windows settings/display/advance graphics option, the screenshot that I referred in my last message
Yes. but in that old Win10 way (like Win10 settings shown in the screenshot), it was easier to list all the apps/games the user wants to apply/enable that Fullscreen optimization option & then just check the option box in one place. As I am not seeing any such option in Windows 11 settings, so asked.
On 22621.105 I am getting checkmark boxes in Files Explorer. I want them to go away. I am aware of View-->Show-->Uncheck "item check boxes", but that doesnt make the boxes go away. Known bug ? Any fix ?
Windows Defender is partially broken after upgrade from 22000.739 with ISO in VMware Workstation without TPM Tested with UUP dump build 22621.105 and 22621.160, 22621.1 from ESD "App & browser control" is missing in Defender app, and it crashes immediately if I click on it in windows settings "Device security" in defender app only says "Standard hardware security not supported", but there's should be core isolation, secure boot and something else "Reset" button in Windows Security options can't fix it I've found only one post about it on another forum on June 3, 2022 Clean install is fine, I can't find any useful info how to reset Windows Defender after build upgrade udp: upgrade from 19044.1766 is fine
i have norton, when you let it backup your files . it leave checkmark on the folders that it will backup. you have to uncheck something call "backup status overlays" maybe you have a software that do the same.
you are mixing two different things, first the old global fullscreen optimization toggle did not exist in final builds of windows 10 but insider builds. Second, the fullscreen optimization is meant for fullscreen games. The new windowed optimizations in windows 11 makes windowed fullscreen games act like fullscreen (low latency and instant alt-tab) ones which is great (sorta like having dwm off back in the days of windows 7). Only disable both optimizations if there is a performance issue or compatibility with older games.
I just tested upgrade from 19044.1766 and it's fine No idea why but upgrade from 22000 really breaks Windows Defender but seems like no one cares about it
