Another build with all the same bugs as 2 months ago... I can't believe they will release this dogfood to the public without more work. It needs at least another couple of week, and that's only for bugs that have been here (in seemingly every branch) for more than 2 months now.
I think the builds in Dev Channel are to test new features before they make there way to Beta, I don't think the builds are tied to any specific release. I honestly thought MS was going to release this version as 23H2, rather than do a fake EP upgrades for 22621. Most likely get EP's for Windows 11 every year now until EOS, like what they have done with Win10 v2004.
It has all the same bugs that people have been complaining about with the other branches for 2 months now. Missing icons, blank icons, network copy issues which has something to do with the blank icon bug, safe mode crashes, fps issues in dx12 games etc... I personally have no idea what MS is doing, something seemed to change about 2-3 months ago. The different builds were different (different bugs) back then, so I have no idea what is going in the final release, I just know that pretty much the same bugs persist across all branches at the moment, as I've tried them all, and read what others are finding. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm really struggling to see MS fix these issues before they formally release 23H2. After all, you would expect the Canary and Dev builds to have those long-term bugs fixed with just 1-2 weeks before 23H2 is public.
I know, it was kinda rhetorical question MSFT released more builds with problems and tried to fix it with a fast lcu in the past. Most normal users don't encounter any problems so this has worked with the exception of 17463.1 where users could lose their personal files when upgrading using the original firs release ISO.
Yes I remember that botched release of 17763.1, luckily I never lost any of my personal files back then when I upgraded. I had a feeling your question was rhetorical, cause I already thought you would've known the purpose of the builds in dev channel. Here's a question that no one knows yet (except for MS), what's next for the Dev channel when they're done with 23xxx builds
Sometimes I think MS just make it up as they go along. Remember that we have Windows 12 being baked at the moment, and I'm hoping that MS taking their best people off the Win11 is the reason why Win11 is so bad.
That's why I have the latest canary build installed on my laptop, and it's still has bugs but the game performance is there. If Win12 is worse or about the same as 11, then I'm downgrading back to latest Release Preview build of Win10 v22H2.
