Just a(nother) "simple" solution to block instalaltions and manage dozens of devices as a non IT professional. Its not thaaaaaat bad.
I, like many in the curiosity clan, wanted to see what SE offered/removed. I (due to my fault for not researching enough) thought it could be "removed" similar to "S" mode. Well not so much. The account changed my account to Standard, and I am unaware of the Administrator password (which is none of ones I would have used). I may use a password reset tool like the one in DaRT 10.5 and see if I can make some progress there. Does anyone happen to have a known method removing this that had an expected outcome? I will likely boot to Windows PE or another bootable USB-C media and copy my important files to an external USB-C SSD drive.
It can't be removed AFAIK and also locks your machine down to only be able to install Windows in S Mode. You must clear the machine's TPM to be able to install a normal Windows edition. Source: My own experience.
I don't feel as much of an idiot as I did knowing others curiosity like mine put them in a pickle. So my only real option is offlload my data (which is not a significant amount, but the installation and configuration of it is time consuming (Yoga 7i 512 SSD). Windows 11 Home was preinstalled and I upgraded it to Windows 11 Enterprise using a MAK. If the recovery media is used, will Setup detect the former S installation and apply these restrictions again? Another confusing aspect is the Administrator account appears on the Welcome screen, but the password is unknown, and is nothing I would have set (I have tried them all). I am thinking of using the DaRT for Windows 10 and attempt to reset the Administrator password to at least make the backup process easier.
AFAIK there is no way to remove SE within Windows 11 You need to wipe your HD and do one of the following Option 1: In EFI setup turn off bitlocker and reset your TPM Option 2: Install Windows 10. Enable S Mode. Turn off S Mode using the Windows Store.
