Update: Win10PE_SE_2021-04-24 "Images Configuration" now shows both WimInfo and registry info with BuildClass2 when possible. Many improvements and fixes with a huge set of Plugins eg. Audio works out of box Critical Update: Win7PESE, Win8PESE, Win8.1SE Fixed "wimgapi was not found"
Updated Win7PE SE, Win8PE SE, Win8.1SE Win10PE_SE 2021-04-25 Since MS decided to change things again a few days back, a quick update was required. Critical Update: Win7PESE, Win8PESE and Win8.1SE -> "wimgapi was not found" again fixed. If you want to build Win7PESE Win8PESE Win8.1SE better use Win10Host If you want to use another Host: 1) Be sure your source is on a folder and you let "Extracted Wim Folders" Plugin extract the source. 2) Probably better not to use \Drivers\"Driver Integration" Plugin If you see "wimgapi was not found" again in future, manually fix it by putting required files to the appropriate folder, check the log to see the appropriate folder. Win10PESE: So far no problem reported with "wimgapi was not found". Default Win10PESE does not need mount (BuildClass3) But in case you have "wimgapi was not found" failure with Win10PESE in the future, just put required files in the appropriate folder manually, check the log to see the appropriate folder. Technically, Win10PESE default with BuildClass3 does not need wimgapi and relevant files, but [the developer] does not have time to update relevant Plugins accordingly. Probably in the summer.
Sorry I cannot help you there. I haven't used WinPE_SE since Win10XPE was released March 2018. Maybe a member here that uses it might be of help.
You quoted the post about TheOven.org, so I'm not sure which project you're referring to? If we stick to the Win10XPE project, I guess it all depends on the original developer "ChrisR". (Weird, when I type the "@" sign to quote his name, it doesn't appear in the list, I hope he still checks out this topic from time to time). Maybe he will take a look at it when Windows 11 goes public (like @freddie-o said). I can remember from years ago that we sometimes got project updates at least around christmas time, so we have a few months to go. Generic Windows 11 PE doesn't seem so different from Windows 10 PE, at least not at this point, so maybe there are not a lot of changes needed to the PE builder packages. Windows 10 PE hasn't changed from 19041 to 19042 to 19043 (all still 19041 ADK), so I wonder if there are any changes at all, at least not in the basic functionality. On the other hand: things like adding the full Explorer, WOW64, etc. etc. to the basic PE, might require a lot of changes to the code of the builders.
So far the previews of Windows 11 seem to work with current configuration - Although you need to Launch WinX Shell to view the desktop as SIB does not work
Thanks, @Kyhi Have you heard from ChrisR recently? I'm sure he's enjoying some well-deserved vacation time? All PE enthusiasts should check out Kyhi's excellent XPE topic over at TenForums.
I did try creating a Win10XPE using Windows 11 but when I booted to the desktop it suddenly turned black. I didn't bother figuring it out anymore. I'll just wait. Pro 19041 does the job just fine for now.
