You don't need it,it is mainly for RAID configuration or ssd caching(irrelevant nowadays with cheap large enough ssd as boot drive with all software installed).

    Thanks @whitestar_999 for your response.:)
I have found that it is mainly for RAID configurations but what do you mean with "all software installed"?
I have not installed this software and it sends me notifications to update it. How can I remove this software? And is it there or anywhere in my computer? :dontgetit:
It's just weird with this Intel RST.

This intel rapid storage also has a ssd caching feature which can cache most frequently used software on ssd to improve performance. It was of use a few years back when ssd were too costly so people used to just install os on small 32gb ssd & install software separately on larger hdd but now this is not an issue with so cheap ssd.

I say just uninstall the intel assistant or at least disable its "prompt for updates" setting.

There is Intel Rapid Storage technology in BIOS and I can disable this feature without causing any damage to the system?

The thing is that I am using this software from Intel to update my drivers. I don't want to use any third-party software for this process. It's too dangerous if I mess something with the drivers.

Which drivers? In fact people recommend to stick with a good known driver for as long as possible.Only people I know who need constant updating of drivers are gamers.I am guessing the only driver that this intel assistant will frequently update is integrated graphics & even that is not required unless the one you are using suddenly start causing issues with latest win 10 version & even then you always have windows update to fall back on.

@whitestar_999 also my network card is from Intel and there are drivers for Bluetooth as well.
Intel SSD firmware through intel's toolbox is also checked for update and Intel Display Audio too.

All of these are usually considered "non-essential" & updating them is really not required unless you face an issue. In fact you should never update any storage device firmware without doing thorough research.
