I just bought a Sony Vaio VGN-A270, it came with Windows XP professional and no recovery disks. I would like to load Windows 7 on it, and have a Win 7 Professional DVD. Does this sound about right: Since the Bios is not showing as having SLP 2.1 (or any version for that matter), I am going to need to get a modified bios from someone to have any hope of activating? If I had to go back to Windows XP (I have the Windows XP sticker on the bottom of the laptop which I assume I could use), I would need to get a DVD with Windows XP Professional? (I do have a Windows XP Home Upgrade DVD but didn't think I would be able to use with the key I have?) Does this sound about right? Suggestions? Thanks!
So, for example the DAZ Loader would work? Sorry, just wasn't sure that was an option if my bios was showing no SLP version.
It should still work fine on your laptop, I have a old XP laptop & Daz's method worked fine for me Just install your chosen edition of Windows 7 (Starter to Ultimate, NOT Enterprise) then run Daz's application.
