My motivation for the thread was this article: Though I am not a socialist, I personally consider such earnings as obscene and equivalent to robbing the shareholders. I also understand that bank directors get even more. And with so many banks in difficulties, they aren't that good either.
Not on that scale, no. On the other hand I'd bet that the President/CEO of the company I work for makes six figures and in my eyes he is severely underpaid. ( I'd also bet he donates at least half of that back into the company. ) P.S. I am not a betting man.

no. they certainly deserve more than the average worker, but come on, when some earn in a month what others couldn't earn if they started working during the last ice age, something can't be right.
They're are voted in (CEO's) because of the prosperity that they bring to a corporation. They bring contacts and practices to a corporation that's designed to increase profits and lead the company down a path of profit. Most times, they come in under legal contract, so when they leave, the corporation has to pay them severance. (Golden Parachute) It's been said that a good manager can do the jobs of each and every subordinate in a company. What would pay for that level of expertise?
