In the 50s, there was legendary rock and roll, in the 60s the Beatles, Rolling Stones and a host of others, in the 70s some fine progressive blues and hard rock bands, even the 80s had some good stuff, e.g. from Duran Duran, U2, AC/DC. But somehow, it seems to me that light music has been getting progressively worse over time, and reached the point that nowadays I can hardly find anything to listen to. Do you feel the same, or am I just getting old?
1 - You are getting old. 2 - Tastes change as you get older. 3 - Music is poo today. I may happen across a gem once in a blue moon. I actually look backwards to find music i never listened to before, or didnt listen to much. Giorgio Moroder, Yello, come to mind.
@Katz well dude I'm old but I love all music don't care is are samba, rock, rock progressive, Irish, lounge, electronic etc is necessary only sensibility
Damn i just love this song, and this lyric - And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts And I looked and behold, a pale horse And his name that sat on him was Death And Hell followed with him.
Auto Tune and most modern day Synthesized instruments dominate the majority of recording studios. I prefer to go to a live concert where instruments are actually being play by a musician.
It's true that live concerts have a special appeal and are also a life's experience. Nevertheless, studio recordings under controlled ideal conditions invariably sound better.
@Katz: If you've ever listened to some of the older prog bands perform live, then you know it's all about the talent of the musicians. e.g: Gentle Giant, Focus, The Who, Jethro Tull, Allen Holdsworth. These musicians are -AWESOME-! I've seen them all live.
