Does a 40-pin IDE cable supply power?

    If so, how much? I'm trying to connect a mSATA SSD to an IDE controller using an adapter, but it has no power connection, so I'm wondering if the IDE cable supplies any power.

    The tiny IDE connectors as used on the laptop 2.5 inch drives do in fact provide power. How much, that's above my pay grade.

    Thanks for the replies. I think I'll abandon this project and save the SSD for something else.
