Does anyone know about chinese Hacked Daemon-Tools for Windows Seven? Anyone? This is truth? I saw a thread about this on Neowin...
I see threads on it, but nothing concrete. The devs of Daemon tools have taken a we are not going to even touch this issue until RC or RTM approach.
It's really one and only issue - with SPTD drivers that aren't compatible with Windows 7. Alcohol or Daemon-Tools are SPTD-drivers dependant, and the devs made it clear that they won't release a win7-compatible version until a very advanced RC-build is released. Pity, since they could gain some more market-share and a bigger user base. The problem was narrowed to the - SPTD installer (can be overridden) and - sptd.sys service - because unlike other apps that return param1=name and param2=state eg running or stopped SPTD is sending %%87 as param2. Event Viewer is also passing the following message: 'Driver detected an internal error in its data structures for.' The SPTD Legacy device should also me added by hand, using regedit because that wasn't done. But it doesn't make spdt work, since the driver itself must be changed, and I cannot reverse-engineer it. For now you must use other third-party app, like magiciso, poweriso or virtualdrive.
this daemon old version works very well but... my windows alert me about activation problems... and my activation was gone and i could not activate again... just keep showing error... i just can't believe this...
If you are looking just to mount isos and not emulate a particular encryption I recommend Slysoft Virtual CloneDrive...its free and doesn't rely on having the SPTD layer installed.
Google sptd download the latest one install, rebbot, install daemon tools lite and ignore the compatibility issue....workin fine for me
VirtualCloneDrive is great. I found this software a few months ago and I won't go back to daemon tools.
