I've had this issue always ever since I installed 8.1, across my 100 formats that I've done, every single one of them had this issue. When I play an MP3, it would run fine for about 30 seconds or so, then suddenly WMP would say it encountered an error and would close. Now I can simply switch to another MP3 Player sch as AIMP3 but I would like to know why is this happening? Do j00 guys face the same i$$u3?
I think your pc maybe too overpowered to run WMC, No really, I dont have that issue in a variety of pc's and different flavors on win8.1. Did you run sfc /scannow ? I noticed that even your kb has some issues
First guess is a codec issue. Do you have 3rd party codecs installed? What happens if you have a completely clean install of the OS (along with updates) and no 3rd party software at all? Does WMP still crash? Another thing: Take a look at the even viewer. You may find something.
no dawg why would I run sfc/scantomorrow when all I do are clean installations? will wait for others to chime in to see if anyone is facing teh same issue
Yea mine does it all the time whenever I click the X in the top right Getting nearly as annoying as all your new threads, I suggest Admin to put a block on OP starting new threads, these are getting ridiculous and there are plenty of already existing threads these dumb questions could be asked in
Yes I do, ffdshow, LAV, madVR I don't remember it happened when I first format. You know coz before I take an image of my SSD partition, I usually run WMP once and configure it then it sits there for 5 mins collecting the album art, but I never actually played a file so I cannot guarantee 100% that it happens or not if you don't have this issue, do you have any codecs installed?
yes, any MP3, I am playing them randomly. Now after that first sudden shutdown, I played 2 MP3s just fine including the first one which initially crashed. Can you guide me what to check in Event Log to see what message we get? I don't know where to look By the way I have no custom plugins so that message is irrelevant stating that maybe an incompatible plugin caused this
In the left pane, expand Windows Logs and select Applications, and in the right pane "overview and summary" expand "errors", scroll to see faulting apps.
Strange, there is no event near the time I made this thread, as if the whole thing didn't get logged and I can't see anything related to WMP there. Just forget it....thanks anyway. I'm sick of this buggy OS
As noone else seems to have even nearly as much problems as you have (a 100 formats ... what the heck ). I suggest you start to consider yourself being the bug here .
