    Hello.

I need some solution for my problem, help me please.
Situation: I've got Sony VAIO VGN-FJ3SR/B with Phoenix BIOS.
    Original BIOS: _ftp://81.88.218.216/phbsys-00966319-un.exe
    SLIC 2.1 BIOS: _ftp://81.88.218.216/slic_r0140x6.rom
Version of current system BIOS is same as SLIC 2.1 BIOS.
Than I try to update BIOS with default WinPhlash 1.4 (from original BIOS package), it says, that "New BIOS image is the same as current system BIOS, and BIOS will not be changed".
If I try to flash by WBFLASH (from st-d package) situation is the same.
I download WinPhflash 1.6.5.6 and try to flash with this program. But if I push the "Advanced Settings" button or try to flash, it says "Corrupted interface descriptors in the new BIOS file. Platform signature not found in the interface. error code -103". With non slic BIOS situation is the same.

    What should I do?

P>S. Sorry for my english :D

Thank you for answer, but it's not usefull :(
    In DOS:
Phoenix Phlash16 Utility Version 1.4 Build 59a: "Unable to open bios.ROM"
Phoenix Phlash16 Utility Ver. 1.7.0.0 (Phlash161700): "Platform signature Not found in the interface"
PhoenixPhlash Utility 4.0 Release 1.57: "File open failed on platform.bin"

    Any another solutions? :)

I think, the best way is flash with standard WinPhlasher from driver package, but we need to know parametr/key for this flasher to interrupt/prevent matching procedure.

And? I am trying to flash an VGN-AR250G with a moded bios that is same as the version as the current one, and get the nagging message that its the same version. Did you figure how to force the older winplasher to go and flash it anyway?

    No, I'm not.
I'll try to disassemble this winphlasher...

    Yea! I did it!
But with a very long and hard way.
I used debugger IDA Pro, and standard winphlasher from standard package. With debugger I found analysing f-ware procedure, and has bypassed it by zeroflag substitution.
If you want my help, I can get you. Just post your f-ware+phlasher from sony site.
    Sorry for my English :)

    you are amazing

Great News, here is the link to the original winplash that reports the versions are the same. If you make it ignore this situation i will be able to flash with the moded bios.

the original bios is : ftp://download.sony.com/US/pc/PHBSYS-01175118-US.EXE

let me know what to do.

    thanks so much

Sorry, I can't unpack this .exe file, because of version of my system.
Pls unpack it yourself, then send me winphlash.exe, compressed with RAR or ZIP.

Corrupt bios on VAIO SZ48GN - bios ver R0112N0

    Hey beldimon,

I was looking around the net for ages and I think the problem that I have is quite rare.
During an attempt to extract and mod the bios using symcmos to enable VT and AHCI I managed to write a corrupt NVRAM txt file into the bios. :D

THANKFULLY the computer boots and works for the normal boot and things. EXCEPT for the few issues which are quite problematic:

    1) The original sony recovery software no longer works because it doesnt recognise the system as a SZ48GN . SO I CANT RECOVER ANYTHING FROM THE HIDDEN PARTITION OR USE ANY OF THE ORIGINAL SOFTWARE! I assume the part of the bios identifying the computer identification got corrupted !

    2) There is NOW a password to enter the setup. I NEVER entered a password in the first place, so I assume it must have been due to the corrupt txt file that I wrote into the bios.

    3) Booting from usb flash or drive is not working anymore.

Ive tried everything from battery removal and unsuccessful reflashing ( because the original sony flasher does not allow me to complete the flashing because it wont flash on a computer that it THINKS is not a SONY VAIO!!)

    YES , I AM PRETTY SCREWED!

I noticed you can modify the settings of the flasher and get it to "FORCE FLASH"

    BELDIMON !! :worthy::worthy::worthy:
Can you please help?? Can u fix it so i can force the original bios back in?

Here is the link to the bios
    http://www.sony-asia.com/support/download/62034/product/vgn-sz48gn

Im Sorry man, I really tried to upload the bios but the zip file limit is 97kb?? Maybe because i have access restrictions on the new account here? OR im just stupid and cant work the attachment interface properly!

I wont touch the bios after this messup is fixed! No more symcmossing for me!!:D

As they say... "If it aint broken ... dont F&*K with it!!"

    Thanks in advance!!

On my VAIO VGN-S2XRP this patched tool didn't work. :(
It says that new BIOS is flashed successfully, but don't really flash anything; the window appears directly after "Analyze old and new BIOS compatibility" stage.
    Can anyone help me?
