Yeah but the things is, I have had some issues with this one and the previous one was OK... I have also looked for similar issues online and got the confirmation... Similar with the latest Ubuntu - previous was better...
I have used without problems. This version is stable here. Leave your OS up to date to receive corrections.
Sadly not my experience, m8... And the developer who directed me to Mint also agrees. With Ubuntu he is back to 12.10, I think - or 12.04 maybe, dunno... And I have had the same issues with drivers and so on...
No problems here either... a single issue with one update(some irrelevant language update I think) - updating/installing etc all fine since ... @gorski, are you having kernel issues?
Possibly drivers - but I am a lay person... However, I have had similar issues with other distros, various versions of Ubuntu were bad for my HW and so on... It happens, as it's not easy to cover all the HW combinations, as Linus keeps complaining, since the industry is not fully co-operating with Linux world, as they are for Windows buggers...
have u try to add the ppa repository? mostly drivers problem related to kernel issue, as example in ubuntu precise 12.04.4, the kernel updated into 3.11.5 (lts saucy), but drivers for ATI Radeon 4200 from AMD seem only support kernel 3.2.xx, my problem solved by patching the kernel (I use ppa repository, u can search or read in google for available ppa repository for ur hardware drivers problem) some suggestion, if u had update issue, dont use backport, use proposed (romeo in linux mint) instead in update manager...
Yup I know... I don't use backport - either way I don't have driver / kernel issue thus not a problem.. Overall tho' I agree most issues are related to having the right setup regarding kernel/driver compatibility..
I never had and never would understand why the Boot Time matter for so many user that much?! For me only matters that the computer run fast and secure as needed AFTER the complete boot process is finished. That also includes those time some apps needed to finish the booting in hidden background which could still takes some wile! I need at least 2min for to get to the kitchen or canteen for to get my cafe, so I switch on my computer, go to get my cafe and as I come back to the computer it's up and running as it should! So really, why I should bother with an boot time in seconds? Even if I using my Laptop out of office, that boot time didn't matters at all! Again, ALL what matters is the good run of the fully loaded system!
It's not the number of seconds so much, but a yardstick in comparing the speed of various OS'...and thus the conclusion regarding HD video..
