Dedup confirmed working! just created a vhd from 12gb of 3 iso and size now is 5gb. well done moderate! If you don't mind my asking, are these files from a secret beta build of WS 2016
Spoiler This little gem you uploaded is the only evidence outside MS walls of RS2 server build , but don't worry i won't tell anyone
Until recently I just thought, that we will not have Dedup for RS2, since it isn't LTSB and also it is released with no Server Preview (like TH2).
ReFS - new filesystem replacing NTFS, it doesn't need chkdsk. Deduplication - special filesystem feature saving disk space of duplicate files content or even duplicate parts of files. WSL - Windows Subsystem for Linux - allowing to install BASH to various x64 editions (for example to Server). Generally this pack contains files, which are otherwise harder to find, because there are in: WindowsPE (like ReFS and TaskmanagerClassic) Server (like Dedup and WinCalc) LTSB Editions (like WinCalc) Enterprise Edition (like Windows To Go)
BTW Can you please add a little description next to these tweaks a to what they do? I understand the classic task manager and calculator but what bout the others: 1. ReFS v3-2 and v1-2 2. Dedup 3. TaskManagerClassic (greeny "W7-like-style" TaskManager) 4. WinCalc 5. WSL 6. BasicTheme
With ReFS you can format drive to ReFS instead NTFS. With WSL you can run Linux command prompt. With Dedup you can enable it on specific drive and save space there.
Thank you so much. They will be fun to play with. I successfully created a batch file to integrate ReFS to a mounted wim. The others look easy enough.
