Hello, I have weird problem at work , where the download can reach more than 10mb/Sec and it keeps like that steadily ! But when i browse any site , it just take ages to open it ! Im running on Windows 8.1 with ESET Nod32 antivirus Can I do anything to optimize the browsing ? Thanks
Is it safe to assume you tried browsing with AV disabled? Change browser? check firewall settings run a scan that is what comes to mind for now
Thanks for the reply Yes I turned the AV and tried but still the same thing and I always use Firefox, i have tried on Chrome but still not that dif ! What exactly to check on Firewall ? Could it be related anyway to Windows Version as it's not genuine and it crashes sometimes ? or a server problem ?
Yes sir, a bad win8 will create havoc. Run this as admin sfc /scannow to repair any obvious integrities violation. Check Firewall , just in case there are bad settings, like blocking firefox,chrome.... I am not going to question why a non authentic win 8 in a work environment, that is just not good. Why not download a clean iso? and install it clean.
Well actually i have tried to do sfc scan before which leaded to an error ! but anyway I guess i will try to install Fresh Windows 7 on another Partition ,and check if it solves the whole thing ! if so then i will reinstall new windows 8 instead of the current one
You might want to try a different DNS server - if your current one is slow, so will your browsing be slow.
Thanks everyone for the reply ! I have tried Google DNS before as well but it didnt help much ! and im not using a proxy/VPN in my computer But anyway I have installed windows 7 as I mentioned before ! and it ran perfectly without any kind of lag in browsing , I guess the version of Windows 8 I had was corrupted is some kind of way ! And I'm thinking to just to move all my work programs on Windows 7 and just keep using it !
How are you downloading? If you are maxing out your download speed, the websites you are trying to visit won't be able to communicate with your system. If you're using torrents, try capping your download speed at 9.5mb/sec so that your system can actually respond to the connection requests.
If it's a work connection, how do you know it's a direct connection? Could be running through a filter / proxy / server before it reaches your machine
By any chance u have gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H motherboard? I got similar problem on 2 of those boards with win 8.1. Its a nic driver problem as far as I can tell. Couldn't find workaround so just installed new nic on mine and the other one got returned.
