Hi, I have HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. It had Win 7 Home Pre 64 bit which I formatted and installed Win 7 Ult 64 bit. Now I can't find the drivers for the laptop. Earlier I searched the web and installed the drivers online from a site called DriverPack Solution but it seemed that the drivers and the downloads were not clean. Kindly guide me and inform me how and from where can I get clean drivers from any reliable source. Kindly help!
device manager > right click device you want info about -> properties -> details tab -> hardware IDs pull down tab. First entry usually has what you want. e.g. PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1401&SUBSYS_1138196E&REV_A1 google that for the exact hardware. In this case it is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
Tip for next time, upgrade from premium to ultimate by changing the productkey using the ultimate HP key from Daz' windows loader's key.ini file, it will be genuinely activated on your laptop. And check drivers before tampering with the original install.
Remove the battery and check for labels in the battery well that specify your devices. I've seen that on several laptops and netbooks I've upgraded.
