Ive managed to activate my win7 which is great but i have lost activation for vista now. do i need to use the slmge.vbs command with a vista oem key? or can i use the win7 one which i have already used? win7 activated with hp cert vista was activated with asus cert advise/help required please Many thanx Ky
Simply add the HP cert into Vista. The mod you use (bootloader or modded bios) has changed the SLIC 2.1 key of your bios. You need a new certificate (HP) for Vista now.
When you have a OEM SLIC Bios (real or emulated) and the corresponding OEM certificate (in your case, the HP cert), all OEM:SLP key will work. So keep the current key and simply add the cert into vista. On my laptop, I have a (official) SLIC 2.0 Toshiba bios + OEM certificate from Toshiba + Dell OEM key. Everything works. On my netbook, I have a (modded) bios (Dell Slic 2.1) + Del OEM certificate + Lenovo OEM:SLP key and it works.
