    Native mode

***IF*** the option exists in your BIOS, set the SATA controllers to operate in NATIVE IDE MODE (instead of RAID).

    Obvious solution

Grab old ide cdrom off your stack of spare parts and plug to ide port temporarily.

    The old standbys

Myrrh makes a good point that reminds me (it an age thing) why I keep an IDE HDD and ODD in my machine that is, otherwise, loaded with SATA drives. Although you can SLIP necessary drivers onto an OS install disc, it's nice to be able to boot from long-standing reliable tools. Along with its six SATA connectors, my ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe has one IDE connector for this purpose.

That said, I know of no other options. :(
