I will test this tomorrow for Win8.1 to see if it also works and will report back. Thanks for sharing regardless if it works on Win8.x. Still good information. :)

There's no "MpEngine" in my registry under Windows Defender, just "Policy Manager" and "Spynet".

You have to create the key, then add the DWORD on that key.

Open Notepad copy this and save as defender.reg in C:\ Drive then click on and click yes

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\MpEngine]
    "MpEnablePus"=dword:00000001

Well, this definitely works. Went to run BitTorrent and it flagged it as a PUA. Had to allow it in order to run it. Interested to see how it works for other people when it comes to PUAs.

Is changing a registry entry really a "hack" now? Man, I'm totally a hacker. Boohoo!

Not really a hack, more a tweak.

    No ads on Utorrent.

Open Options > Preferences > Advanced.

    Set to false.
    -
    bt.enable_pulse

    gui.show_plus_upsell

    gui.show_notorrents_node

    offers.left_rail_offer_enabled/left_rail_offer

    offers.sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled/sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled

    offers.content_offer_autoexec

If you only use utorrent when not using the net, open preferences- bandwidth-

Global number of max connections 1000

Max number of connected peers per torrent 500
