I'm very interested in it. I've been watching a few youtube video's and got a general idea of how it works. The BIG question for me is the price. I'll be bookmarking this thread and checking regularly.
(best) Hardware: banana pi m2 54,- € case 8,- € 2A power supply 5,- € sd card 3,- € =============== ~ 70,- € Software: free / easy updates: to be beaten...
I´m also interested and already tried the software in my raspberry at home. My children said that it slowed the internet connection speed remarkably, so they switched it off. But i´m still interested!
well, in the moment the best hardware for this task is a banana pi m2 (1 gb ram, 1 ghz quadcore cpu, gbit lan adapter) my internet connection is as quick as without eBlocker, but (due to it's beta status?) sometimes connections are reset - which is a pain in the ass when downloading big files from sources which do not support continuing interrupted downloads.
Got an original Raspberry Pi sitting unused in the cupboard EDIT - "Download eBlockerOS for free today and instantly browse the web truly anonymously." So this is basically a VPN? Not happy with routing my whole internet through someone elses servers purely to block ads, something that acted like a local strict rule hosts file would be way safer / better
not at all, i tried to explain it shortly in post #1 - your traffic is routed through eBlocker only, but of course you have to trust the makers that they don't drain/dredge anything... as already mentioned, i could not find a way yet to have a look inside the eBlocker software itself (which was the reason for this thread to get help here)
Not as bad if it is local, but still, not being able to view the routing is worrying, could be sending data anywhere
Hi there would it be possiblt to get this image working in an virtual machine? I already have an server in my network.. thanks
Seems like something to try, but not for nearly $80USD. I've used Adblock Plus for years in Firefox and now Chromium browser. It's totally free and updated often enough to suit my needs. Of course contributions are accepted and warranted so "free" is relative.
i don't think so since boot process and especially hardware ist totally different... or do you have a virtual banana pi?
yep dude, very interesting but for a while I haven't money for this because I can mount one new rig soon and is very expensive maybe on the future and thanks for the heads up
