    Writing in: Ron Paul

The two major parties have a racket where it looks like there's any discernible difference between them. Both are beholden to the banks, wall street investors, military contractors, media conglomerates and other vermin. Meanwhile the people perish for lack of knowledge.

The people don't perish for lack of anything other than making an effort to see beyond their nose. The US electorate is downright weird.
George Bush is voted out in 1992 since he was a war mongering nut, no issue there. Clinton is kept for two terms which was the right decision economically. In 2000 George W Bush stole an election and then gets reelected in 2004  after proving to be a war mongering nut like his father?! Then in 2008 Obama gets a shot for some reason, you would think after reelecting Bush they would give McCain and his idiot side kick a shot at wrecking the economy some more. Now the shocking part is why is Romney so close in the polls ? The man is abhorrent at best. Anyone with commonsense and a tv can see he is a bare faced liar. I know politicians are people you can't trust and elections are usually about electing the lesser of two evils. But why does the US electorate get hoodwinked so often ?

i think the american electorate views
the world from a frog`s perspective.
they hardly know anything about the
    rest of the world.

they may know that afghanistan is the current
source of the bodybags atm, but if you
ask them where it is on the map of the world,
or what kind of culture the afghans belong to,
you will probably see most them scratching
    behind the ears..

they notice if they can longer pay their
mortgage, they notice that they cannot
find a new job, if their old one is transferred
to china or brazil, they notice when the
price of a gallon of gas doubles, but they
never even heard of the revolving door..

and those are the people who are making the
choice between the lesser of two evils,
as they see it. and there is not much of
a choice anyway, as myrrh so rightly
pointed out.. no wonder they get hoodwinked
    time and time again..

[ and yes i know, there are many americans
who are better informed, but they are not
a majority, and majorities happen to be
    what democracy is about..]

btw, this romney bird is the richest man
ever to run for president over there, so
if you are a middle class person with
the problems i mentioned under they notice,
you might think twice about voting
this guy into power..just my 2 centavos..

Obama is rich too, but Romney is in another league. I don't think the issue is about the wealth of the candidates, but whether they will make a concerted effort to help the middle class. I don't see any indication that Romney has any intention of helping anyone in the middle class. He seems to be looking to fill his and his friends already filled coffers and comes across as disingenuous when talking about the middle class.

there is lot of quicksand to be considered..
the marketing and the campaign budgeds alone..
i will not walk into all that with my eyes open..
myrrh mentioned this ron paul guy..
while he is a conservative, it is problably safe
to say he would mess up the world and the american
economy a lot less then then the esteemed candidates..
but a man born in 1935 should know better than to
run for a four-year term of president in 2012,
i think..he would be ~82 when it ends..

Without to go into details. Romney stands for mechanisms which would make anything worse. To me he's a person that is ego controlled and has no social aspects.
He is a typical imperialist, a person which embodies all that what I don't like at the United States. He addresses capital (the rich people) and the dumb people with nationalistic paroles.
The worst thing that could happen for the entire world (except to the dumb US nationalists and capitalists) is that Romney would win.

I hope for the middle class, the intelectual powers and the powers which have already given up pure ego related interests that Obama will win...it would be better for the EU and world economy also. US (economy) is not that great as Romney tries to sell it to the people.

Romney is to me just a dork. Sorry.

2 he had a lot of good ideas but he doesnt know how to play poker with the big boys
3 the president doesnt have the power to enact laws and other changes without help from both parties
4 i also beleve he is the lesser of two evel's, Romney is a slick snake who smiles to much ;)

The clouded current U.S. election process

If we look at the past (last 30 years) in the U.S. voting was primarily a process of comparing a persons record on policy and or position on issues that were hopefully important to a majority of the citizens. So as a matter of relevance a candidate would have to weigh in on those issues giving the candidate's stated position in contrast to his or her opponent.

    The current mess

The two things which have forever changed the landscape in american politics are the Filibuster and the Citizens United decision
    in the U.S. Supreme court.

How this influences our politics is like this, a candidate can promise something in an election, win the election, and try to govern that promise but the minority party in the U.S. Senate can Filibuster any attempt to legislate change (the promise), even at the detriment of the country, and then spend unlimited funding of campaign contributions (because of the citizen united decision) to falsely accuse the candidate of broken promises even though at the root their obstructionism was the cause. The republican party's record on obstructionism through filibuster over the last 4 years is unprecedented and has deeply wounded our democracy. Exposing them for what they are is paramount in retrieving our democracy.

The 2012 presidential election is on pace to spend 1 billion dollars in Advertisement buys most of them misleading, deceptive and divisive. The topic of global warming has not come up once even though 67% of the electorate acknowledges the existence of human caused global warming!!

That's always been one of my favorite relaxing documentaries.

    Still gonna write-in Ron Paul.

Socialism has failed every time it's been tried. Eventually you run out of other peoples' money, especially when you take away all incentives to be productive.

Pure market-based capitalism has never been given a chance to work. All we've ever tried is some blend of government cronyism and then blamed "capitalism" when that fails.

Good Riddance to Romney and the Tea Party. Hope that they now drown themselves into the Boston Harbour.
