In Win 10 Enterprise, telemetry can be fully disabled from within the OS (no third party apps) - i.e it's officially supported. Is this the case for Windows 7 Enterprise too (i.e without third party apps)?
No it can't be disabled it only can be set to minimum Code: 0 - Security [Enterprise Only] A value of 0 will send minimal data to Microsoft. This data includes Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) & Windows Defender data, if enabled, and telemetry client settings. Setting a value of 0 applies to enterprise, EDU, IoT and server devices only. there are no 'telemetry' in win7, as long as you don't install KB2952664, KB3021917, KB3068708, KB3080149
I'm forced to install windows 7 on one of my machines - I would really appreciate any links/comprehensive sources discussing how to shield away telemetry and intrusive updates. As we all know, the update exclude list, seems to be getting longer and longer every month for 8.1 and 10. I'm installing tomorrow - so really need up to date / comprehensive info for windows 7. My sincere thanks to anybody willing to help.
abbodi1406, Can somebody help me clarify something. aboddi1406 - you have explained that it can't be disabled - only minimised to setting (1). Here is my confusion - are you only talking about windows 7 ENT? What is the case for 8.1 ENT and 10 ENT? The reason I ask is the numerous articles that I read - saying that MS allowed telemetry to be 'completely???' disabled for Win 10 ENT - due to outcry/'feedback' from businesses and corporations?
For No Telemetry whatsoever You need to disconnect from the Internet. Win 10 "Upgrade Telemetry" can be controlled as Abbodi posted.
I'm talking about Win 10 ENT, it can't disable feedback/telemetry completely Win 7/8.1 ENT don't have telemetry components as part of OS they are added by updates
For the record I run WIN7x64ENT with KB2952664, KB3021917, KB3068708, KB3080149 installed and I have no GP section "Data Collection" nor reg entry either.
