I'm using Windows XP. Using the tool Windows 7 USB / DVD creation Microsoft Windows USB 8.1 boot to install. When you restart the selected boot from USB receive the error. Who helped me?
Dear mr fire, I had faced problems while using Windows 7 USB / DVD creation tool to install Windows 8.1. But I did not face any problem after booting from DVD on the same PC. You can try the same. I also don't remember whether I got the same screen at that time. I recommend you to just try. Nothing wrong in trying. Regards, Manu
What CPU is installed? Got similiar error on a system with Core 2 Duo T5800, is lacking some features needed for 8.x . murphy78 already pointed at this .
Not a issue, 8.x contains generic USB3 drivers inside boot.wim. The BSOD is from XP, not 8.x. Seems that he got some weird partition layout where the active partition is encrypted/hidden or contains some locked OEM partition.
First step at all on an older Machine would be to update the BIOS to the latest available version! Windows 8/8.1 will not work with some older BIOS's!! Also check that your hardware is compatible to Windows 8/8.1! The error 0x0000007B could be also came from to old MB with USB 1/1.1! That you could not use for to install Windows 8/8.1! Try first to burn the ISO to an DVD and start the setup from there!
