I am in the middle of exams so don't have time to fiddle with Windows 9 - might be interested in the future.

I notice that all their special upgrade offers are expiring soon and want to know if it is worth it?

I have the $14.99 upgrade offer and the free WMC add-on key as well.

    Questions:

    1. Is it worth activating these special offers to have a full version of Win 8 before they expire?

    2. Is there an easy way to secure these offers using a virtual machine or equivalent as I don't have time before Jan 31 to look at upgrading one of my machines?

    3. I think that I have read on the forums here I can then back up my registration so I can do fresh install on a real machine once I am ready - is this correct? (and true for the $14.99 upgrade offer?)

    4. Do I need a real key for an existing install of Windows (I think I have an XP key floating around somewhere) in order to upgrade? (All my others are running Daz Loader vers)

Thanks in advance - I did look through the forums for some of this information but need an opinion as to whether or not this is worth the time.

    1) Yes, it will jump from 14.99 to 199.99
    2) Yes
    3) Yes, use Advanced Tokens Manager or just register your copy of Windows 8 by phone
    4) You may need a Windows 7 OA key

Thanks for the quick answer - very helpful.

With regard to 3. - using Advanced Tokens Manager will I be able to restore the activation to a completely different machine (keeping in mind I will be using a virtual machine only for the original activation)?

    Nope, as tested myself.

The hardware limitation is not a problem of the application, but yes of the Windows 8 Activation System.

josh,if micosoft can flag windows 8(make them non-genuine) remotely, why don't they do it with windows 7?

As s1ave77 said, the Windows 8 Activation system was really improved against non-authorized activations checking every time for the integrity.

There is the reason to many problems using hacktivators, one time that the system is unable to check the activation, then show non-genuine messages.

What about the hacktivator that activates win8 pro, then insert WMC key, then becomes permanently activated? even your backup tokens app says it is activated, before and after WMC key is inserted? am i overthinking this?

If the Pro activation is genuine, ok.

But if no, the system can be deactivated due genuine checks, that will verify all the tokens integrity, checking for blacklisted keys.

Looks like it would be too difficult then I guess to use these keys unless I know which machine and can install it on that machine before Jan 31.
Not ready for the jump just yet!

The 14.99 and 39.99 keys do not expire. If you haven't activated them yet they will still function.

The free WMC keys will expire unless activated.

oh, maybe it is just the offer to buy that expires.

    I received an email with:

As a reminder here’s your Windows Upgrade Offer promo code for Windows 8 Pro. Purchase and download your upgrade before the program ends.

*Offer valid from 2 June 2012 to 31 January 2013. For complete details visit {url}.

So you are saying I can buy the key, not activate then use it for whatever machine in the future?

Yep - went through the upgrade wizard and I was able to buy the key without installing. Time will tell as to whether that key is valid in the future I suppose :)
